Ladnu Digamber Bara Jain Temple


Special Cover on Ladnu Digamber Bara Jain Temple and idol of deity Saraswati issued at Ladnun on 1st October 2014.

Ladnu, (also known as Ladnun) is located in Nagaur district in Rajasthan. The ancient Digambara Bara Jain Temple, situated in the heart of the city of Ladnun, houses several artistic and rare idols of Jain Thirthankara, beautiful images, engraved pillars, rare pieces of art and old Jain dharma manuscripts. The temple has excellent historical background, sculpture and architecture has the idol of the deity Saraswati, one of the finest of that time. It has the inscription of the year 1229 AD. There is an inception found on the door which indicates that the temple is built on Ashad Sukla 8, Samvat 1136. This writing indicates that the temple is more than 1000 years old.

On the occasion of completion of 1000 years of its inception of the Jain temple, a grand function has been organised from 1st to 8th October 2014 at Ladnun. To commemorate the event, a Special Cover was released.
